In Section I, we detail several major binary events set to occur within our evaluated company universe. In Section II, we look at a few select drugs which have interesting and compelling catalysts during the year. Finally, Section III highlights catalysts within indications that will help determine the future competitive landscape.
Furthermore, we have included a catalyst calendar detailing many of the telling catalysts in 2008 (a more comprehensive list can be downloaded from the Advanced Catalyst Search feature on BioMedTracker or CatalystTracker).
For our evaluated company section we chose Amgen (AMGN; Denosumab for Osteoporosis), Onyx Pharmaceuticals (ONXX; Nexavar for NSCLC), Human Genome Sciences (HGSI; Albuferon for HCV), GTx (GTXI; Acapodene for Prostate Cancer and PIN), Dendreon (DNDN; Provenge for Prostate Cancer) and Biogen/Genentech (BIIB/DNA; Rituxan for MS and SLE).
From the individual drug standpoint we comment on Zactima for NSCLC (AZN), Specifid for NHL (FAVL), NPlate for ITP (AMGN), Milnacipran for Fibromyalgia (CYPB, FRX) and Cordaptive for Dyslipidemia/Hypercholesterolemia (MRK).
Lastly from an indication perspective we examine diabetes (Liraglutide; NVO), obesity (Qnexa; VVUS), Alzheimer’s disease (Bapineuzumab; ELN, WYE & Flurizan; MYGN) and Hereditary Angioedema (Firazyr; Jerini & DY-88; DYAX).
