Cougar (CGRB) Coverage Initiation
September 25, 2008
We have added Cougar Biotechnology to our evaluated company list. With a focus on
oncology, Cougar’s business strategy consists of in-licensing clinical stage drugs and
moving them through development toward commercialization. The Los Angeles based
company was established in 2003 and began trading publicly under the symbol CGRB in
February 2007.
Cougar’s clinical stage pipeline includes three drugs: Abiraterone Acetate (CB7630), CB3304 (Noscapine) and CB1089 (Seocalcitol). The most advanced drug, Abiraterone, is being studied in a phase III trial for prostate cancer and a phase I/II trial in breast cancer will begin later this year. CB3304 is being developed for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and multiple myeloma (phase I/II) and CB1089 for prostate cancer (initiation of a phase I trial is on hold).
