2009 ASCO Weekend Update

May 31, 2009

The PDF document includes our analysis of several data sets as well as a list of the 82 ASCO data events we have inputted into BioMedTracker to date. Below are some of the key highlights from this weekend’s presentations. Additional analyses will follow in the coming days.

Key Findings
-BSI-201 (SNY) & Olaparib (AZN) for Breast Cancer - PARP inhibitors showcased at ASCO produce striking results in difficult to treat metastatic breast cancer.

-NSCLC Maintenance (Tarceva, Avastin, Alimta) – While Alimta shows survival advantage over Tarceva, doctors skeptical of need for maintenance therapy and do patients live longer and/or live better?

-Avastin (Roche) for Adjuvant Colorectal Cancer - Avastin fails in adjuvant setting with unexplained transient benefit in DFS. AVANT study result still to come.

-Epratuzumab (IMMU) for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) - Very encouraging phase II results in CD 22 positive DLBCL disease. Enthusiastic anticipation for phase III is high.

-Biovaxid Vaccine (ABPI) for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) - Shortcomings in enrollment and trial design hamper positive outcome of the first phase III trial. However, additional study of the drug warranted.

-MDV3100 (MDVN) for Prostate Cancer - Strong efficacy data, seizures needs to be monitored in phase III, though low dose may be free of them.
