Vivus (VVUS) Coverage Initiation
November 19, 2009
We have added Vivus, Inc. to our
evaluated company list. Founded in 1991
and originally focused on treating both
male and female sexual dysfunction, the
last several years have seen the company
develop an obesity treatment, Qnexa,
which is now poised to become its
flagship product. Vivus is also developing
a PDE5 inhibitor, Avanafil, for the
treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED),
and markets MUSE, a 'break-even'
product for the treatment of ED that
provides the company with minimal
revenue. The company has brought
Luramist, a
transdermal testosterone
spray for the treatment of female sexual
arousal disorder (FSAD), through Phase II
development but is awaiting a partner to
develop it further.
