JP Morgan Conference Review

The 28th annual JP Morgan Healthcare Conference was held in San Francisco, CA from January 11-14, 2010. A list of events and catalysts that were announced or updated at the conference is included in this report.

New catalysts announced at JP Morgan include:

  • ALKS 33 (ALKS) Phase II data in alcohol dependence expected in 2010
  • BCX-4208 (BCRX) various Phase II trials in gout expected to report throughout 2010
  • NDA & MAA filings for Relovair (GSK, THRX) in asthma/COPD planned for late 2011
  • Top-line Phase III data of INCB18424 (INCY, NVS) in myeloproliferative disorders will likely be presented at ASCO 2011
  • Data from Phase II studies of Nexavar (ONXX, Bayer) in breast cancer expected by the end of this year (2010)
  • The Phase III program for cangrelor (MDCO, AZN) in ACS will resume in 2010
  • Results from the FREEDOM-C Squared study of oral treprostinil (UTHR) in PAH will be available in 2012
  • An MAA will be filed in Europe for Qnexa (VVUS) for obesity in the second half of 2010
Other important catalysts with timing updated at JP Morgan include:
  • Results from the Phase III BUILD-3 trial with bosentan (Actelion, Roche) in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis will read out in the first quarter of 2010
  • Results from the DURATION-4 study of exenatide LAR (AMLN, LLY, ALKS) are expected in the second half of 2010
  • Auxilium expects the approval decision for Xiaflex (AUXL, PFE, BSTC) for Dupuytren's contracture to come shortly
  • Data from the Phase II study of PEG-PAL (BMRN) in phenylketonuria are expected in the summer of 2010.
  • Due to differing regulatory requirements in the U.S., Bristol-Myers Squibb is carefully monitoring CV events per FDA guidelines and will make a filing decision for dapagliflozin (BMY) later in 2010 or shortly thereafter
  • If the survival data are mature, results from the study evaluating ipilimumab (BMY) and DTIC in first-line melanoma will be presented at the 2010 ASCO meeting
  • Phase III trials for cariprazine (FRX, Gedeon Richter, Mitsubishi Tanabe) will be starting in bipolar and schizophrenia this quarter
  • Results from the Phase IIb monthly dosing trial of Zalbin (HGSI, NVS) are expected in the first half of 2010
  • InterMune anticipates to have an Advisory Panel meeting for pirfenidone (ITMN, Shinogi, KDL, Marnac) in either March or April
  • Results from the Phase III study of perifosine (KERX, AEZS) with Velcade and dexamethasone in multiple myeloma are expected in the second half of 2011
  • Results from the FREEDOM-M study of oral treprostinil (UTHR) in PAH will be available in 2011
  • Top-line VX-809 (VRTX) data in cystic fibrosis should be available in the next several weeks
