2010 Pre-AASLD/HCV Update Report
October 25, 2010
The 61st Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), also called the Liver Meeting, will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 29 – November 2, 2010. Highlights include details from the pivotal trials of protease inhibitors telaprevir and boceprevir, as well as data from three new direct acting anti-viral (DAA) combination studies. The combination studies and data from kinetic modeling should provoke interesting discussions on the feasibility of eliminating peginterferon from treatment regimens, but sustainable virologic response (SVR) data will be needed to draw conclusions.
This preview provides an overview of the hepatitis C DAA pipeline, along with a table summarizing efficacy and major safety points for drugs in development. Another table summarizes the DAA pipeline with a view towards combinations. Bullet points on highlights are listed below. We have also included a conference planner on the end of the report.
