2011 Post-CTAD Report
December 07, 2011
Highlights from the meeting include clinical data presentations of drugs for the treatment of mild to moderate AD, recommendations for Alzheimer’s related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) observed in trials of amyloid-lowering drugs, and novel tools for population enrichment and early detection of AD. While the field continues to anticipate findings from the bapineuzumab Phase III amyloid antibody trials, the leaders in AD research are already anticipating needs for better disease models. There was increased emphasis in further defining prodromal or “preclinical” AD by using a systems-based approach including imaging, genetic, biomarker, and neuropsychological components. This report focuses on the advancements surrounding early identification and treatment of AD and offers our assessment of these developments.
