Datamonitor Healthcare Other: Hypogonadism Market Spotlight

March 07, 2024

Hypogonadism is a condition caused by reduced functional activity of the gonads; that is, the ovaries or testes. The gonads produce gametes (sperm or eggs) and hormones (estradiol, testosterone, progesterone, activin, inhibin B, and antimullerian hormone). Females with hypogonadism do not begin menstruating, and it can also affect their height and breast development. Moreover, if the condition occurs after puberty, symptoms may include menopause, hot flashes, and mood swings and changes in energy level. Males with hypogonadism experience reduced beard, genital, muscle, and voice development. It can also cause growth problems. Other symptoms include muscle loss, low libido, and breast enlargement.
