Datamonitor Healthcare CNS: Fibromyalgia Market Spotlight

January 24, 2024

Fibromyalgia is a chronic medical disorder characterized by widespread body pain, nonrestorative sleep, fatigue, and cognitive problems. It is not a fatal, progressive, or deforming disease, and is most commonly associated with depression and anxiety. The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown and its pathophysiology is not completely understood; however, a combination of neurological, genetic, psychological, and immunological factors, as well as sleep disturbance, can cause the disease. Dysfunction in pain processing at peripheral and central levels, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis dysregulation, sleep disorders, and aberrations in the autonomic nervous system are some of the factors that may contribute to the disease pathophysiology.

This Datamonitor Healthcare report contains a Market Spotlight module.
