June 03, 2016

Parkinson's disease is a neurological disorder that progresses slowly and causes both motor and non-motor symptoms. While there is no cure, the Parkinson's Disease pipeline landscape has steadily evolved over the years, aiming to treat the detrimental effects of the disease.

This week Acadia launched Nuplazid (pimavanserin) for the treatment of hallucinations and delusions associated with Parkinson’s disease psychosis in the US. This FDA approval was the first for this subpopulation of patients, and the first approval for Parkinson's Disease in over a year. Progress continues, as several promising drugs are advancing through clinical development to offer effective treatment alternatives. This infographic provides a brief snapshot of the current Parkinson's Disease landscape.
