Schizophrenia KOL Interview - UK

July 29, 2026

The UK KOL discusses the treatment approach for schizophrenia, generally favoring second-generation antipsychotics like cariprazine, aripiprazole, amisulpride, and lurasidone as first-line options, with first-generation agents reserved for treatment-resistant positive symptoms. The KOL also shares views on specific molecules, noting cariprazine's edge for affective and negative symptoms, lurasidone's favorable cardiometabolic profile, and the tolerability tradeoffs of paliperidone and risperidone. The interview closes with commentary on emerging options, including Cobenfy's novel muscarinic mechanism and evenamide's glutamate-modulating approach for treatment resistance.

This interview was conducted on February 18, 2026.
