Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) KOL Interview - US, Southeast

October 19, 2026

This interview with a US-based key opinion leader (KOL) offers insights into current treatment practices, prescribing behaviors, and late-phase pipeline therapies in Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). The discussion covers disease staging, diagnostic approaches, first- and second-line treatment selection, and the evolving role of immunotherapy and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in the SCLC treatment landscape. Additional topics include patient eligibility for emerging therapies, treatment sequencing in the relapsed/refractory setting, unmet needs, and the potential impact of novel pipeline agents.

The standard of care for extensive-stage SCLC has evolved substantially with the incorporation of immune checkpoint inhibitors alongside platinum-etoposide chemotherapy. The expert emphasized a strong preference for atezolizumab as the first-line IO backbone and highlighted tarlatamab as the preferred second-line option for eligible patients, citing Phase 3 DeLLphi-304 data. The discussion also addressed the competitive positioning of multiple ADCs entering late-stage development, the sequencing challenge they present, and areas of greatest unmet need including elderly and poor performance status patients.

This interview was conducted on April 24, 2026.
